Terms of service

By using Frozen Chat (the apps, Frozen Chat Web, this website and the licence-key shop) you agree to these terms. Last updated: draft, not yet in force.

1. Your account

You are responsible for your devices, your Recovery Key and your recovery PIN. We can't recover an account without them, and we can't restore messages: they exist only on your devices.

2. Acceptable use

Don't use the service to:

  • break the law, or help others break it;
  • send spam or bulk unsolicited messages, or automate accounts;
  • harass, threaten or exploit anyone, especially children;
  • attack, overload or probe the service outside a responsible-disclosure arrangement.

We can't see content, but we can act on accounts reported for abuse and on technical signals such as rate-limit violations, including suspending licences or accounts.

3. Licence keys

  • A key grants one plan for the stated period (Pro 30 days, Business 182 days, Elite 365 days) on the account that redeems it. Keys are single use.
  • Keys don't renew automatically. A key of the same plan redeemed before the end date extends it.
  • Prices are in US dollars and paid in cryptocurrency through NOWPayments. Network fees and exchange rates are set by the payment provider and the blockchain.
  • Keys are shown on your order page and kept by us for 24 hours after you first view them. Save them: we can't show them again after that.
  • Because payments are anonymous and keys are delivered instantly, refunds are handled case by case. Contact us with your order id.
  • Plan limits (devices, file size, group size) may change; we won't reduce them for a period you have already paid for.

4. Open source

The Frozen Chat software is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. These terms cover the hosted service, not your rights under that licence.

5. No warranty

The service is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep it secure and available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service, and the software has not yet been independently audited. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

6. Ending

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. We may end the service with reasonable notice; unused paid time would then be refunded or honoured where possible.
